It's a Sad day in the Bay

No tears were shed, but the room fell silent as Ivan turned the t.v. off. The San Jose Sharks 2007-08 Season is no more. Last night the Sharks lost the playoff battle against the Dallas Stars in quadruple overtime. After a 5 hour game, the Sharks fell when the Stars hit their Achilles' heel -- the opponent making an attack during their Power Play. I guess it was inevitable, but very disappointing after such a long battle and a major comeback from a 3 game deficit in the series. (We were down by 3 games in the series and the Stars only needed to win 1 more game to end it.)

Ivan became a DIE HARD fan being VERY occupied with the team and games and honestly, I was getting pretty sick of the Sharks. At times, I was wishing the season would end sooner. (Ivan went to the last three home games and every home game except for game 2 in the first playoff series). Although, Ivan was soo distracted by the team, I knew this would only be temporary, so I tried to be supportive. However, after last night, I was a little sad too. (My eyes became a little moist). It has been fun to watch the Sharks games together at the tank and even when Ivan went alone to the game while Maks and I sat at home watching on t.v. Thanks Sharks for fighting a good fight! We don't have season tickets for next year, but we'll definitely make it to the tank!

I don't mind at all. I've actually been catching up with your blog on-and-off for a while now.

We're in Springville while my husband is an entrepreneur in South Provo (www.tsplines.com). Meanwhile, I've been doing odd jobs as a tutor and a professor. I taught two classes in the EMPA program this last semester, and now I'm happy to take a break for the summer. But I am still teaching guitar for fun.

Maks is VERY cute, and it is fun to see how fast he is growing up.

The problem is that the Sharks and the NHL is here to stay. They might be taking a break for a little while (149 days left until the new season), but you have years of hockey to endure, and you just wait until Maks gets into it as well. You'll go crazy.

But no worries. I might not watch sports every other night as before, but I give you a warning - there is EuroCup (soccer) in June/July, then there are Summer Olympics and there is always college football in full action before NHL season resumes. So we won't be bored.

But the pain of last night's loss will be felt for a long time. LONG TIME.

Oh my gosh it's as if the above post written by your husband was actually written by mine...what is it with sports? They are insane and seriously when one sports season ends, another begins. It's like the sports world is out to get all those wives out there who, don't get me wrong, enjoy a sports game every now and again, but every night?!? I feel your pain sister... (p.s. I was a bit disappointed with the loss last night too, don't tell Brett)

First of all I totally forgot you answered a tag so you don't have to Becca, but that's cool if you want to Ivan.

2nd Josh and I watch the WHOLE game last night. I know we broke the sabbath :( We are huge shark fans and we wanted them to win so bad. I was tired, but I couldn't turn off the tv and I kept clinching the blanket and squealing every time something intense happened. We feel your pain Ivan.
